Hello, I am still here. Thought I should post something, but I have been pretty busy. I have thoughts on quite a few things. Like why am I so tired? Maybe not eating right? Maybe I have a lot of things going on, or it is stress? Maybe I am staying up later than I think and waking earlier than I think in order to accomplish my goals.
As some of you know I am living in a little studio apartment. Everything I own is light weight so that I can move it myself if and when I decide to move. Like I have an air mattress rather than a bed.
Anyway, when I moved out of the joint living space with my husband, I grabbed our camping cook set for pots and pans and they are made of aluminum. I also have a little microwave. I am wondering if the aluminum cook set is bad for me. I have read and her that it possibility could cause Alzheimer’s disease. I had a friend over to my place last night and she brought her own tea. She doesn’t like microwaves and wanted me to boil water for the tea. She wasn’t too thrilled with the aluminum pans either. She say glass or ceramic is best. She said the tea even tasted different.
I hope to research this topic more.

I don’t use microwaves anymore… there is quite a bit of research showing the waves change the structure and nutritional content of the food…
I simply heat things up on the stove now…it really hardly longer at all.
I don’t know much about aluminum though I’ve heard of the issue…we do have one aluminum pan that I still use…
We also have non-stick pans with some sort of coating…
it’s my next project under the continuing lifestyle changes…changing one pot and pan at a time until they are all stainless steel or cast iron.
the last thing I got rid of was plastic water bottles…
don’t need to risk adding other environmental toxins into our bodies…not stuff we can actually control…too much we can’t…these things we can control I figure we should.

I am with you Gianna, control what we can. I use a microwave…and right now I am using the aluminum pans. But I think replacing things one pan at a time might be workable for me.
Using the campware only when I am camping might be the best way to go.

I once made muffins and the coating from the pan stuck on the muffins so we couldn’t eat them. I don’t know how the tea would taste different…
If we stopped using everything that is supposedly ‘bad’ for us, then there wouldn’t be much left to use.
So, do your research and let the rest of know if we’re slowly killing ourselves or our brain cells

Hi Paula Joy,
I have heard that if a parakeet is is your home and heat up a Teflon pan and it the pan burns the chemicals given off from the burning Teflon with kill the parakeet.

The DuPont company says any cooking which causes burning can kill a bird

Well, Paul I do think we really look at all these things that are “bad” for us. I think it would help in reducing many diseases, especially cancer.

Doubt for the aluminum. The reason it the tea tasted different could be due to all sorts of things.

As for the microwave, it can decease vitamin or mineral content, but it can also retain it better than the stove in some cases. Especially spinich. It also makes bacon less carcinogenic. Adding water also makes it lose it’s nutrients.

Hello NiroZ, I did read the links that you suggested. I think that many people who have been diagnosed with a “mental illness” are actually canaries. By canaries I mean people who are highly sensitive to environmental toxins which might not bother the general public.
In the Wikipedia article it does say that aluminum is know as a nuerotoxin in high doses. “In very high doses, aluminum can cause neurotoxicity, and is associated with altered function of the blood-brain barrier.[4 ]” It then goes on to say, “Although the use of aluminum cookware has not been shown to lead to aluminium toxicity in general, excessive consumption of antacids containing aluminium compounds and excessive use of aluminium-containing antiperspirants provide more significant exposure levels.”
Hence many people would take the above to say, “Aluminum is safe.” BUT…I still wonder if some of the human population is more senstive.
Just a couple days ago my daughter said to me, “Mom, you are so sensitive to other things that the average person is not even aware of.” I smell things that are real, the smells just don’t bother other people. Like my mom used to say, “She can smell sour milk three days before it is sour.” It was getting sour…the average person just wasn’t aware of it. I also can hear noises and people talking…that the avearage person is not aware of. I am often awakened in the middle of the night I will lay there for a while wondering why I am awake..then I will realize that the neighbor next door is awake and talking in a normal level of voice….it isn’t bothering anyone else…..but it does bother me.
So, NiroZ, what I am saying is that it is possible that low levels of supsepcted toxins bother me more than the average person.
Thanks, NiroZ for the links. I have another full day so I won’t be able to research the topic for myself, but hope to get it soon.

Ive recently learned that aluminum is reactive and cooking food in aluminum can react with the metal to form aluminum salts which is associated with impaired visual motor coordination and Alzheimer’s disease, but there is no definite link proven. I like to use stainless steel stock pots because they are healthy and durable.
