NAMI is making efforts to “educate” people are the “causes” and “treatments” for schizophrenia. I see a couple voices of dissent on their comment section.

There is no mention of alternative ways to heal. I placed a comment on the MTV board.

Dear Naturalgal,
Well, your latest post about NAMI is making me really angry, and I’m thinking we may have to start flexing some political muscle ourselves! I’m going to mention your post in my post for tomorrow! I need to think about what I want to do about this! Any thoughts?

1) We need NAMI to acknowledge any funding from pharmeuctical companies
2) We need them to acknowledge that many people have gotten well through alternative methods.
Also, actually it is illegal to advertise that mental illness is a “chemical imbalance” because this has never been proven. I think that someone should record advertisements and bring that to the attention of the authorities.

Dear Naturalgal,
Thanks for the info. I didn’t know that! I’ll think about what you said. I used to be a grant writer and wrote $8 million in successful grants for a small liberal arts college. I’m capable of starting a Bipolar Wellness Association and writing grants for funding. I’ve thought about it before, but I may rethink it again now.
